Community Education
We offer community education through courses, trainings, and workshops for providers, peers, and the mental health community.
Courses
MHP offers advocacy courses for people with mental health concerns who are or have been involved in the criminal legal system.
- The Reentry Advocacy Course is designed to educate and empower individuals with mental health concerns who are or have been involved in the criminal legal system. The course offers participants the opportunity to learn about resources, such as HRA benefits, fair hearings, housing/shelter options, and disability benefits, and to become connected to wellness, self-care, educational, and vocational service. The course also offers participants the opportunity to hear others’ experiences with reentry and mental health recovery.
- The Systems Advocacy Course is designed to educate and empower individuals with mental health concerns who are or have been involved in the criminal legal system. The workshop is open to graduates of MHP’s Reentry Workshop. Participants will be provided with an opportunity to navigate different systems; develop, improve, and practice positive communication and oral advocacy; learn about current issues that impact mental health; create systemic change on local and state levels; find peer support and expand community; and share information, knowledge, and skills.
Trainings
