Housing & Homelessness
Overview
The Mental Health Project works with people with mental health concerns who are at risk of eviction, entering the shelter system, or are seeking housing. Our goal is to help end the cycle of homelessness and hospitalization by assisting clients with preventing eviction, navigating the shelter system, and linking our clients to supportive housing.
For clients at risk of eviction, we work to connect them to the proper resources to stabilizing their housing situation.
For client who are homeless, we connect them with the necessary supports to maintain their mental health while living on the street or residing in the shelter system. We also link clients to housing that provides the support they need for their individual circumstances.
How Can We Help?
- We can help people apply for rental assistance vouchers, assistance with back rent payments, and mental health supportive housing.
- We can advocate for the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) to place people in the appropriate shelter setting for their individual needs
- We can connect people to treatment providers and short-term respite centers as necessary to maintain their mental health throughout their homelessness.
- We do not provide housing court representation, but we can connect people to eviction prevention programs.
